The Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) - the accreditation body for medical programs in Poland - has officially submitted its preliminary application for recognition by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). Poland has now gained the status of applicant in the recognition program leading to streamlining the process of applying for medical licensing in the US and some other countries for medical students and graduates of Poland-based medicine programs.
We are happy to share that starting from the academic year 2023/2024 we will implement standardized subject examinations provided the by the US National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) as end-of-course evaluation for selected courses in the medical program administered in English, i.e. Behavioral Sciences, Biochemistry, Gross Anatomy, Histology, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Clinical Neurology, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychology, Surgery, as well as for comprehensive evaluation: Comprehensive Basic Science and Comprehensive Clinical Science.
In the week of July 24 to 30, 2023, we have the pleasure to host a group of 23 students along with a number of faculty from University of South Carolina Beaufort and Grove City College, for a medical summer school project in Poznan.
The inaugural meeting of the project "InfPrev4frica: Capacitating Sub-Saharian African HEI's to Educate Nursing Students for Sustainable and Innovative Infection Prevention and Control Practices" took place on July 17 to 21, 2023, in Lisbon and Coimbra in Portugal.
A multi-institution international double-blind randomized trial on 171 participants lead by PUMS Prof. Elzbieta Paszynska has confirmed that a mineral called hydroxyapatite is as effective as a toothpaste ingredient in preventing development of cavities as fluoride.
After the earlier lifting of the state of epidemic in Poland, the Polish government has now declared the end of the state of epidemic emergency as well, coming into force on July 1, 2023. This legal change affects certain regulatory solutions that were put in place to assist during the time of the Covid-19 pandemic, both on government and university level.
We are overjoyed to present the next event by PUMS Alumni Coordinator: the Residency Survival Workshop by two of our alumni currently working in the Mayo Clinic network in the US.
On June 19, 2023, after a thorough audit, document review, site visit and multiple interviews, our University has been granted the ACEEU Engaged University Accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial & Engaged Universities.
On July 5-6, 2023, at the Congress and Didactic Center, a scientific conference will be held summarizing the activities of the five-year ORBIS (Open Research Biopharmaceutical Internships Support) project, which received funding of EUR 2.27 million under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions of the Horizon 2020 framework program (H2020-MSCA-RISE, no. 778051).
The President, Senate and Chancellor of the Collegium of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Poznan University Medical Sciences kindly invite all to a special awarding of the title DOCTOR HONORIS CAUSA: Prof. Bożena Michniak-Kohn - Professor of ordinary pharmaceutical sciences at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, Director of the Skin Research Center and Drug Delivery Laboratory, Rutgers, New Jersey State University, USA, for outstanding achievement in the expanded field of skin and transdermal energy delivery systems (Biographical note).
