Summer Practical Training in Japan

Attention 5th-Year Medical Students

We are opening applications for a 4-week summer internship in Japan, co-financed by PUMS.

RULES AND SCORING CRITERIA FOR THE QUALIFICATION OF STUDENTS FOR SUMMER INTERNSHIPS IN JAPAN

AICHI UNIVERSITY – NAGOYA (June 2026)
TOHO UNIVERSITY – TOKYO (July or August 2026)

Japanese universities will provide free accommodation, while PUMS will offer travel grants of up to PLN 5,000.

Who Can Apply

The internship is open to 5th-year medical students with a grade point average of at least 4.3 from the four completed years of study.

Required Documents

Mandatory:

  • Certificate of foreign language proficiency
  • Official confirmation of the grade point average for all completed years of study.
  • Cover letter including:
    • First and last name
    • Faculty, year, and field of study
    • Email address and contact phone number
    • Preferred university for the internship
    • Ranking of location preferences (from most to least desired)

Optional (if applicable):
Candidates may also include documentation for the following, where relevant:

  • Confirmed work in student organizations for at least one year, certified by the organization’s President or authorities (e.g., STN Board, University Student Council, University Choir, Puls UM Editorial Board, IFMSA Board)
  • Certificate of activity in a research club, issued by the club supervisor and confirmed by the STN Board
  • Representation in collegial university bodies or committees (as defined in the PUMS Statute and Student Council Regulations), certified by the Dean’s Office/Rector’s Office (for Faculty Councils, Senate, etc.) or by the Chair of the University Student Council – minimum 80% attendance required
  • Confirmation from the International Relations Office of involvement in assisting international students at PUMS (e.g., Erasmus or other official exchange programs)
  • Confirmation of medal achievements in university championships or other sports competitions at least at the level of Polish national championships

The internship will take place upon final approval by the host university.
