Polish

This is a pass/fail course. In the 2017-2018 academic year, basic vocabulary and some grammar was taught.

The building behind Karolek (Marcelińska 27).

Workbook

  • You will need to purchase the language book made by the department.

Other

  • Conversations with Polish friends
  • Duolingo
  • Babel

Classes once a week at first, then two-three times a week.

This depends on the instructors: some evaluate your learning with a few written tests and one final exam; some just administer a final exam. Neither are difficult.

This is the easiest course and you do not need to worry about it. Enjoy it! It is always beneficial to learn a language so do try to learn some Polish. Supplement the course by downloading a language app (e.g. Duolingo) and practicing whatever you learn in daily life. For those who do not speak Polish, imagine being able to communicate in another language by the end of your four years in addition to earning the MD degree. It will surely impress residency programs and broaden the patient population you can connect with.
