Molecular Biology
Description
This is a graded course. You will learn mainly about the genome, population genetics, and laboratory techniques used in the field.
Location
Most lectures should be in Collegium Anatomicum
In 2017-2018, there was one lecture at the hospital on Polna
Seminars and labs will be held at Rokietnicka 5D

Resources
The course handouts are sufficient to study for the quizzes and final exam.
Classes
Lectures
- There are four lectures that cover principles in genetics.
Seminars
- There are three seminars that are more interactive than lectures. They cover mainly techniques used in molecular genetics (e.g. genetic engineering). There will be a quiz at the start of each seminar (5 multiple choice questions).
Labs
- There are three labs where you will do an experiment: real time PCR, gene expression assay, and sequence analysis. There will be a quiz at the start of each lab (5 multiple choice questions).
Evaluation
Internal Tests
- There are six quizzes in total. Each is worth 5 marks and has multiple choice questions. They occur at the beginning of every seminar and lab. You need to achieve a total score of 60% to sit for the exam. Otherwise, you will have to write an integrative exam.
- The final exam consists of 30 multiple choice questions taken from lecture, seminar, and lab material. It is written at the OLAT center (Parkowa 2). To pass the course, you need to achieve a minimum score of 60%.
NBME
- There is no NBME for this course.
Upon reflection
This is not a difficult course since it occurs towards the end of the year and you likely have knowledge of the material from your degree. Plus, most of the material has already been covered by previous courses: histology, biochemistry and medical genetics.
